Sunday Setlists – 6 November 2011

This Sunday had the potential to be another challenging day. Our usual pianist is recovering at the moment and our other pianist called me on Saturday to let me know that he wouldn’t be around either. These are the times when our lack of a worship team ministry approach is really evident. In any case, I used the band for most of the songs and played a few on the piano.

Morning Service

The morning service was led by the CSM (Corps Sergeant Major – Senior Elder) who spoke about actually focusing on God in our worship – it’s easy to be so busy with fitting everything in that we don’t take the time to “smell the roses”.

Look Ye Saints The Sight Is Glorious (B)
There’s A Path That’s Sometimes Thorny (B)
Before The Throne Of God Above (P)
All I Once Held Dear (P)
When Morning Gilds The Skies (B)

Evening Service

Sunday evening was led by Major Claire – our CO (Commanding Officer) and focused on how we should be making a difference to the world.

Who Is On The Lord’s Side (B)
All I Once Held Dear (P)
Stand Up, Stand Up For Jesus (B)
He Is The Lord (G)
I Want To Tell What God Has Done (B)
O Jesus I Have Promised (B)
Tell Out My Soul (B)

For the service I chose a band piece called “Youth’s Ambition” (Ray Bowes) which included three Army choruses. The final one of which was the chorus for the next song – I Want To Tell. I really like it when God works through what we choose, without an pre-planning, and things fit in so well. (Powerpoint with words for the band piece Youth’s Ambition are here).

P – led by Piano
B – led by Brass Band
G – sung by GSY (not congregational)
If you want to read more about our worship philosophy and approach I’ve written a post here.
